July 8 – The leadership of Unified Nassau Florida officially announced its endorsement of Chadd Charland, an independent candidate, in the Florida House District 15 election. Unified Nassau Florida, with over 800 members, is affiliated with Indivisible, a national progressive movement seeking to end the rise of authoritarianism and supporting democratic values. The group cites Charlands’s support of public education, his environmental stewardship and his calls for equality as the reason behind the endorsement. The timing of the endorsement recognizes that there is no primary in the House District 15 election, and the field is set.

Donna Lewis, a Unified spokesperson said, “Charland will be a breath of fresh air after years of being “served” by Dean Black, a self-proclaimed ‘staunch supporter of President Trump.’ Charland shares our belief that democracy requires participation.”

On the topic of this endorsement, Charland said; “as first a non-party affiliated voter, now as a non-party affiliated candidate, Unified Nassau provided me a political home here where I live in Fernandina Beach. It is an organization more concerned with people and issues than parties. That’s what I hope my campaign offers to voters in Nassau County, a home where community and residents are placed above party.

Unified Nassau Florida is a collective of activists and civic leaders dedicated to advancing progressive values and fostering deep civic engagement across Nassau County, Florida. Our work is built on foundation of transparency, equity, and the power of community action. We believe that by uniting our voices, we can drive meaningful change and ensure a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
